Raalo Piym was a Rodian male Jedi Master from Rodia who lived shortly before, during, and shortly after the Clone Wars.

Biography[]

Early life[]

An unusual grey-skinned, Force-sensitive member of his species, Raalo Piym was born on Rodia in 77 BBY, where he was found by the Jedi Order two years later and taken to the temple on Coruscant.
It was there, at the famed Jedi Temple, that he learned both how to harness the power of the Force and connect with its peace.

Pre- and Post-Naboo Crisis[]

After becoming a Jedi Master in 34 BBY, Raalo met and aided in the contemporary training of Obi-Wan Kenobi, though the two were more friends than master and pupil- Master being the job assigned to Qui-Gonn Jinn, Obi-Wan's direct mentor.
When Jinn died by the twin-bladed lightsaber of Darth Maul, Piym was quick to voice his opinion that Jinn's death was a final trial, and young Kenobi should become a Jedi Knight as a result. The High Jedi Council was in agreement with the suggestion, although Jedi Master Mace Windu was initially reluctant to grant such a title to one as young as Obi-Wan.

Clone Wars[]

When the Clone Wars broke out in 22 BBY, Piym was given the rank of Jedi General and sent into battle on numerous fronts. It was while retiring his forces from one such front, war-torn Jabiim, after a tremendous Republic loss thereon, that Piym was called upon to provide medical evacuation for Jedi General Aanda Luun on Nauwuan. The Republic garrison there was not under attack; the oddity of the situation seemed to gain intensity in light of the fact that Luun had been missing for nearly a year and had shown up suddenly, entirely unannounced, at the base there. General Luun was diagnosed by a Republic medical droid officer as mentally unstable due to a long period of malnutrition and sleep deprivation. There was evidence of her having been electromagnetically tortured, but this was not mentioned to Piym or the Jedi Council. Luun, unconscious, was transported to Coruscant, where she was placed in the care of experienced Republic medical professionals and droids.
According to the official GAR medical report and a statement released by the Office of the Supreme Chancellor, she died as a result of her injuries, but not before imparting information (and precise navigational coordinates) as to her whereabouts for the past year. As her protector in her final days, Raalo Piym asked for and was given the distinction of leading a military campaign to the Techno Union lair. Aanda Luun had seen something she was not supposed to see on Telquartine.
